Our Story
TRT Academy was founded by Thomas SAW in 2009 to provide a community environment for aspiring traders to receive good-quality education, peer support from other fellow traders, and coaching from successful practicing traders.
As practicing traders, we strongly advocate that trading is a skill-set best learnt by hands-on practice, practice and more practice to achieve mastery. The best learning environment for practicing trading skills is the dynamic conditions of real markets. As such, 80% of all our education programmes are “LIVE” market learning sessions, conducted during regular US market hours. And we intentionally maintain small class sizes, so that you will receive all the personal attention you deserve and need to excel in your learning.

Thomas Saw
(Founder & Trainer)
Thomas is a passionate trader who has been in the markets for a long time. Since 2002, he have been enlightening people the reality & practicality of trading-investing for profit.
Dr. Foo Loon Sung
(Private Trader & Coach)
Dr. Foo Loon Sung is an investment specialist, private trader, author, trainer and coach. He is an economist by training and an experienced banker for over 25 years. He worked previously for Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank and American Express Bank. He is also a professional trader for over 10 years trading mainly in stocks, futures and Forex. In addition, he is also an adjunct lecturer in Investment, Finance and Banking for Australian Universities.
Michael Chua
(Co-trainer)
Michael Chua is a Charted Financial Consultant (ChFC/S) and holds a Diploma in Personal Financial Planning from Singapore College of Insurance. He has been practicing personal financial consulting since 2011. He obtained a Advance Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) from Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and trains people from all walks of life in personal finance. He is also a Financial Game Master where he uses games to facilitate learning of finance and entrepreneurship for more than 1,000 learners from Singapore, China, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines.
Eric Lye
(Co-trainer)
Eric Lye’s interest in Forex trading started in 2008 and had gone through lots of ups and downs to acquire the necessary skills to become a proficient day trader. He has strong analytical abilities and through his own perseverance, he has formulated his own trading framework, and all these have helped him to prepare and became a professional trader. While he continues to grow in this professional field, he is also willing to share and contribute to the TRT community.
Jimmy Lim
(CTO)
Jimmy Lim is an employee turned entrepreneur with background from software engineering. He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with Bachelor of Computing and he has a certification in Object Oriented Design Patterns issued by NUS Institute of Systems Science. He is currently managing the website and social media of TRT Edge, and he is building business relationships with finance professionals, clients and collaborators to grow the business.
Johnny Lee
(Volunteer)
Johnny Lee has been a BCLS-AED Clinical Instructor since 2009 beginning with Singapore General Hospital. He was previously managing Volunteers with a Non-Profit Organization. He decided to use his skills for TRT Edge as a Volunteer to be a friendly, approachable person who is able to touch base with people from all walks of life who visit TRT Edge. He also coordinates and reminds people who are keen in the activities of TRT Edge via WhatsApp or phone calls.
